The 2026 general election is Tuesday, November 3, but Jefferson County voters do not have to wait until Election Day to cast a ballot. No-excuse in-person early voting takes place Thursday, October 29, through Saturday, October 31, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The county has published locations across Louisville, from neighborhood community centers to county clerk branches and a walk-in and drive-through voting center at the fairgrounds.

You can choose a convenient early voting center

Unlike Election Day precinct assignments, Jefferson County's no-excuse early voting lets registered voters cast their ballots at any of the county's designated early voting centers. That means you can choose a site near home, work or another stop in your day. You do not have to find a location tied to your residential precinct for these three early voting days.

The Jefferson County Clerk's official 2026 in-person voting page lists the full set of locations and addresses. Open that list first, compare the addresses with where you'll be traveling, and use the map on the clerk's page or your preferred directions app. This article does not calculate your personal distance or track your location.

A few locations across Louisville

West Louisville voters can consider the Goodwill Opportunity Campus at 2820 W. Broadway (40211), the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage at 1701 W. Muhammad Ali Boulevard (40203), New Zion Baptist Church at 1501 Louis Coleman Jr. Drive (40211), or the county clerk's West Branch at French Plaza, 228 Amy Avenue (40212).

Other locations include Americana World Community Center at 4801 Southside Drive (40214), the Goodwill Opportunity Campus at 6201 Preston Highway (40219), the Southwest Government Center at 7219 Dixie Highway (40258), the Arterburn at 310 Ten Pin Lane (40207), and Berrytown Recreation Center at 1300 Heafer Road (40223). These examples are not the complete list. The county clerk's page includes every designated early voting site for this election.

The fairgrounds offers walk-in and drive-through voting

The Kentucky Fair & Expo Center will serve as a voting center at 937 Phillips Lane, South Wing, Door E19 (40209). According to the county clerk, both walk-in and drive-through voting are available there during the early voting period, October 29–31, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The same center is also listed for Election Day, November 3, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What to check before heading out

Kentucky requires identification when voting in person, and state guidance explains which photo IDs qualify. Check the state election office's voter ID requirements ahead of time, particularly if you're unsure whether the identification you have is accepted. The state's voter portal can also help with voter information, sample ballots and polling details.

Early voting is a different schedule from Election Day voting. On Tuesday, November 3, polls are scheduled to open at 6 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. local time. If you're voting that day rather than October 29–31, use the official precinct lookup or a designated countywide vote center instead of assuming every early voting site remains available.

Start with the official location list

The most useful part of an early voting plan is knowing exactly where you intend to go. Use the Jefferson County Clerk's current list below to compare locations, then check again before leaving in case officials publish a change. Readers who live outside Jefferson County should use the Kentucky State Board of Elections locator for their own county.

For readers who want to compare travel routes, Louisville Public Media also offers an optional address-based early voting finder. That separate tool is operated by Louisville Public Media, not The Backstory Dept. If you choose to enter an address, you are using their website. The county clerk's official list remains the authoritative source for sites and hours.
